two generations on tour
let's hunt together
During a hike through the Eifel, talking about Northern Lights, we realized that none of us had ever seen any. This was when our crazy idea arose: Why not just heading North and try to hunt some...
Our hunt for the Northern Lights
What just startet as a crazy idea becomes reality…
In summer 2021 during a hike of about 20 km from Kordel to Trier mostly following the Eifelsteig, Nicole and Andreas were talking about this. They were chatting about travel destinations they have already seen and what there is left on their bucket lists. It turned out that neither of them has ever seen northern lights except on photos. Both wanted to change this as soon as possible. This was when the idea was born: Why not do it together? Nicole had already talked to a friend about hunting northern lights once and Andreas was pretty sure that his wife would also like the idea. After double checking this a few weeks after the hike, the hunting team was put together: 4 friends from two generations with 2 cars keen to find the aurora borealis! Since also the cars – one car powered by Diesel and one with electricity – belong to two generations, it was pretty easy to find a name for the travel team: “Aurora-Generation”.
During the further planning of our trip we decided that we want to visit four different countries on our hunt: Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway with a longer stay on the Lofoten. All together we plan 24 days for the trip.
In order to allow family and friends to follow us on our route we will maintain a travel blog, where we will post some impressions from our trip.
