Two cars, two technologies
Tesla Model 3
Nora is an 2021 Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor. One of the last ones shipped to Germany from Fremont. So Nora has a lithium-Ion Panasonic battery with its great peak charging speed.
At the beginning of the trip she has around 10,000 km.
Volvo S60
Volvi is a Volvo S60, built in 2015 and powered by a Diesel engine with an output of 140 kW. Originally manufactured in Sweden, he’s really excited to visit his homeland again.
At the beginning of the trip he has a milage of around 104,000 km.
Four friends, two generations
Andreas
Andreas, happily married with Daniela, was born in 1965 in Essen, a major city of the Ruhr Valley in Germany. After graduating from university he lived at different places in Germany and Switzerland. Andreas loves to travel and experience foreign contries together with his wife, with friends, or just by himself. He not only enjoys the actual traveling but also the planning and organizing of the trips. Besides traveling, his hobbies include hiking, rowing and swimming and basically everything that has to do with water sports.
He has never seen seen northern yet and is keen to chance this by hunting them together with his three travel mates now.
Daniela
Daniela, born in 1969 with an inquisitive mind, loves travelling and all kinds of needlework.
After finishing her studies in mathematics at the Ruhr University of Bochum – where she met her husband Andreas – she started her working career in Frankfurt am Main. In her sparetime one of her favorite hobbies is sewing and working on her selfmade clothes.
It is the first time that she is heading north to the arctic circle, since she otherwise loves the hot temperatures of the tropics. But there you can’t meet the northern lights.
Line
Line, a bubbly 28-year-old German girl, was born in the north of Germany and spent her first 20 years close to the sea in St. Peter-Ording. Line’s primary hobby would be ‘people’. She loves interesting conversations, sharing loughs and a few good drinks. Therefore, she has 50+ board games, always ready to play.
Line’s first time abroad was one semester in Australia when she was 16. She enjoyed the people and landscapes so much, that she went right back for one year of work+travel after college. Afterwords she moved to Berlin for her studies in Business Psychology, where she went to Birmingham/UK for an internship and to Kongsberg/NOR for a semester abroad. After graduating her bachelor, Line moved to Frankfurt to start a job in project management and just graduated her part-time master.
Now she can’t wait to go out and travel again. Her best day of life was a dog sledding tour in Tromsø, and she looks forward to being surrounded by sun, snow and dogs again.
Nicole
is an curious 31 years old German girl with a lot of strange ideas. Always searching for new things to discover and to try out. She started as a child with Taekwondo, camping and gaming. 3 hobbies that does not come together often. She made her way over Judo, horseback riding, climbing, hiking and some other stuff. Some hobbies passed and some stayed.
Nicole still loves gaming since an very early age of 6. That love evolved to an ever growing interest in tech. That’s why she started her studies in Business informatics and is now diving into the world of AI and Computer Vision.
She saw northern lights in various games, but never in reality. Now is the time to change that!
